1. Why should I use The Silver Files?  Visitors who need choices for care and equipment, groups and activities, and close-up personal accounts of similar life situations will find The Silver Files a vital resource for planning for the diverse needs of older adults and caregivers.

2. How much does it cost to search The Silver Files? There is no cost for searching any of The Silver Files classifieds listings. There is no cost for listing in any of the sections. If you are a senior care provider, there is a cost for upgrading your listing in the senior care services listings.

Member Registration


1. Why should I register as a Member? Visitors are asked to register in order to list items in the Home Care Equipment Exchange, to post an event in Out and About, or to add a story in Silver Stories. Business members are asked to register to be able to edit their business listings under the Senior Care Search. Registration allows us to ask Members to keep their listings current and to save their search results through a secured Member Page.

2. How do I register? Registration requires a user name, a password, and a valid email. Registration allows members to setup their own Member Page where they can add, edit and delete listings and keep their listing(s) current. Click here to register now.

Create A Silver Story
 

1. Who can post a Silver Story? Any person can post listings after they register their membership.

2. How do I create my Silver Story? In the “My Silver Stories” tab in your Member File, click on “New Story”. Fill out the form and the listing will be sent to The Silver Files to post in the Silver Stories section.

3. Is my Silver Story posted immediately? No, submissions are not posted immediately. The Silver Files reserves the right to review your information before posting to ensure the integrity of the website content.

4. How do I edit my Silver Story after submission? Log into your Member Page. Click on the “My Silver Stories” tab. Click “Edit” next to the story you want to edit. Change the fields you wish to edit, and click on “Submit”. Your story will be posted with the edited fields. The Silver Files reserves the right to review your information before making any changes to a posting to ensure the integrity of the website content.

Searching for Senior Care Services


1. How do I search for a senior care service? Choose your location by entering your zip code and a desired radius distance from your search location. Choose a category of Type of Senior Care Service. Click on “Submit” to conduct your search. If you want to start a new search, enter new information in the “Start your search here” section at the bottom of your search results page.

2. What do I do with my results? At the right of each results listing, there are several options from which to choose. For each listing, you may choose to map its location, share the listing with a friend, or save individual listings to your silver files. For some senior care services, you may also view a brochure, floorplan or website, request additional information, access special promotions, and compare its service features with up to three (3) other listings (for senior housing providers only).

3. Can I compare listings? Yes, you can compare up to FOUR (4) listings from your search results at one time for those senior care providers who have provided this information. Choose a provider to compare by clicking on the “Compare” button at the right of each listing. When you have chosen at least two providers, click on “Compare” at the bottom of each page to view the Quick Comparison chart.

4. Can I share my results with a friend? Yes, your search results can be shared with a friend instantly by clicking on the “Send to a Friend” button at the right of each listing you choose to share. You will be asked to enter your friend(s)’s email, and a brief message, after which your results will be emailed. Your friend’s email address will not be saved and is used only to send your chosen listing.

5. How do I contact a provider? You may contact a provider by either calling them on their phone number in their listing or by emailing them immediately through the “Request Information”  link at the right of each listing.

6. How do I print my results? Click on the “Print” button at the top of any page of your results list.

7. How can I get more help with my search results?
